From the Principal
This week our Year 12 students commenced their WACE examinations. As they dutifully attended their respective examinations during the week, I recalled the timeless words of the poet Robert Frost, ‘I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.’ It is not the first time I have been reminded of these words this year. During my conversations with Year 12 students, there have been occasions when reassurance has been needed as students describe the road they are looking to travel with uncertainty, as if their lack of clarity is somehow ‘less than’. Often the reassurance is accompanied by a sense of relief.
There are times when education can be seen as a checklist – attend school, pass exams, get a qualification, find a job. Whilst all important milestones, education at its best is not always about following well-worn paths but, instead, the road less travelled encourages the embrace of curiosity, exploration and an openness to possibilities. The kind of education that doesn’t just equip students with skills for a job, but equips them with a mindset to adapt, innovate and lead.
