Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

MRK-6 Yearbook

The MRK-6 2024 Yearbook promises to be bigger and better than ever!

This year, we are endeavouring to capture the entire year at our school as a memory - from the very first days right through to Presentation Evening. In order to achieve this, orders will be taken at the end of this year, but the actual delivery of the Yearbook will happen early in 2025. Never before have we been able to include the entire year in a publication - stay tuned for information to order this special memento.

2025 Class Placement Requests

We have commenced the process of configuring classes for next year. If you wish to share information about your child that will support successful placement in a class for 2025, please make an appointment with me, via the school email address. Requests for an appointment to discuss 2025 class placement for your child must be received no later than Friday 1st November.

Respectful Relationships Parent Information Session

We are very pleased to announce to our families that we have secured Department of Education staff to facilitate an online Respectful Relationships Parent Information Session, directly addressing Topic 7 and 8 of the program.

I would like to sincerely thank those families, seeking to further understand the program, directly contacting their child's classroom teacher or myself over the past week.

The information session will be held online on Wednesday October 30 at 6:00pm. Information will be provided, closer to the date to join us for this important and informative session.

For those families unable to attend, a webinar will be provided following the session to share the information presented at the session.

School Hats

As per the Victorian Education SunSmart Policy, staff and students are required to wear hats between September 1 and April 30 of each year. The expectation at our school is that our students, as per the Uniform Policy, will wear a navy blue broadbrimmed hat. We will have school hats for sale at the administration office from next Monday. This week, students have been receiving reminders about appropriate hats for break times. From Monday October 21, if a student does not have a hat that complies with our school uniform policy, they will be referred to our 'No Hat, No Play' area.

Student Led Conferences

With Mr Crilly unable to conduct Student Led Conferences at the end of last term, a rescheduled day of conferences has been planned for this term. Students and families in S1 will have the opportunity to book a Student Led Conference on Monday November 4 from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Bookings can be made through the online booking system from this Friday. Families will be notified when the booking system is open. Thank you.

K-F Transition

We are excited to commence our transition sessions for enrolments for 2025 Foundation this Friday. This Friday, we will host all of the children, and families, from kindergartens other than Miners Rest Kindergarten. If you have any children, or you know of any families with children, that are yet to enrol for 2025 Foundation, please reach out and encourage them to do so as soon as possible.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Kylie Nissen.
