Visual Arts
In Visual Arts, Foundation students have been put into groups and are allocated art activities which will be rotated each week. Through these activities students will we working on several skills, such as cutting, using varies craft materials, glueing, wrapping yarn, drawing, colouring, tearing paper, using sticky tape, and folding paper. Year 1/2 students have been busy finishing off their rainforest fluorescent bird’s artwork. They have created an Australian animal newspaper collage. Students also have made tassels and pompoms for our art show, which they have all loved. Year 3/4 students have been finishing their wool animal sculpture. They then learnt about an artist, Jackson Pollock who was known to be an "action painter", flicking, dripping paint over his canvas which then created abstract art. Students were inspired to create an Australian Animal Pollock Style art piece. The 3/4's have also been learning about our First Nations x-ray art, where they traced around an Australian animal template, they then drew a spine and bones and learnt how to add the cross-hatching technique. Year 5/6 students also finished their Pete Cromer softies, where they all did a wonderful job with them. They have been busy creating props for our art show, including inspired by First Nations, rock art hands for our Uluru prop.
We are all super excited for our art show next Thursday and Friday, the students have been working hard all year on their art pieces. Ms Zehra and I are so proud of the students’ efforts and dedication to their art. Thank you to all the students and staff that has helped with the preparation of the art show so far, we really appreciate it, it has been a huge help.
PE
Week 3 and 4 of PE, students in years 3-6 have continued to learn and develop their skills in volleyball. The year 1 and 2s have been using beach balls to assist with their skill development while the 56’s have been using normal volleyballs.
It has proven to be a very exciting time for all students, but also quite challenging to develop the skills and ability to hit the ball up for their peers and teammates.
The 3-6’s have been able to move onto playing mini games and have thoroughly enjoyed the competition.
Trying to use the beach balls for a modified volleyball program for the year 1 and 2s has proven to be quite difficult, so this week we moved into a soccer program.
This is much easier for students to play and they enjoyed kicking the ball and having shots at goal.
The prep students have been doing a tabloid sports program all term so they can experience multiple skills and develop their hand eye co-ordination, listening and team work skills. It is a room full of excited students who thoroughly enjoy the challenge each activity provides.
This week they had the extra challenge of keeping their score and recording their score to see which student was the best performer for the day. Our top three students were Mitchell, Lucy G and Maddox.
Well done to everyone for their efforts but especially these three students and thanks for a number of 5 and 6 students for their help with this session.

Bike Education Program
This week the year 56’s started their Bike Ed program. This involved doing an in classroom session explaining the program and what’s involved and then looking at the Big Ride Out. We also discussed the importance around safety and listening. We also did a bike maintenance check to make sure the bikes and helmets are ready to start riding next week.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the session and can’t wait for the riding to start.
The year 3’s start next Wednesday 6th November.

Library News
We have done so much work in the library already this term! Come and have a look at the space as things are ever changing…
Our last big project for 2024 is the next Scholastic Book Fair!
Where: BER Library
When: 25th of November - 29th of November, 8.30-9am and 3.30-4pm daily
What: books, stationary, posters and some Christmas surprises
If we outdo ourselves and make over $6000, there might even be some teacher punishments in store again. Think Mr B’s haircut from last year, but bigger… Keep your eyes and ears open!
Library leaders will be able to help with the fair as always. More info to come on that.
