Wonderful 1/2

0ne(two)derful 1/2s

Term 4 Week 4 2024 -  Friday 1st of November.

What have we been up to?

We have had another very busy two weeks. Last Friday was Grandparents Day and it was such a special afternoon. It really was a joy to welcome all our Grandparents and special visitors to Le Page. Every class did something special with their visitors. We made bookmarks, played maths games, walked around the school, did some yoga and showed our visitors how we do our movement breaks. Every 1/2 classroom was busy and happy.

On Wednesday our students enjoyed eating pizza for lunch. Our special lunch order days are always such a treat!

Just a reminder that all the students need to be wearing hats in term Four.

Pizza Day!

The 1/2s  got to enjoy a hot slice of pizza on Wednesday.

What is coming up?

Reading

We have been reading the story about Peter Rabbit and his adventures into Mr MacGregor’s garden. We have been talking about the components of writing a narrative story which include the character, the setting, a problem, the solution and an ending. The students have been writing some amazing stories.

Writing

For writing, we will recommence our Write To Learn next week, when we have completed our focus on narrative writing.

Maths

Last week in Maths we were learning about capacity. How much can an object hold? We did some interesting experiments with different sized containers. We have also been learning about grams and kilograms. Perhaps when you are weighing any items at home, you might like to discuss how much something weighs. It helps to reinforce this form of measurement. This week we are learning about chance and probability. What is possible? What is certain? What is impossible? These again are concepts that you may like to discuss with your child in everyday situations.

Important reminders:

  • Please don’t forget to bring back your Home Readers each Friday. This is very important. Students need to be returning these books so that they can borrow new ones for home reading practice.

  • If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's classroom teacher through Compass or via the school email and it will be passed on to them.

  • Specialist Days
  • Monday - AUSLAN, Art/Cultural Studies, PE & Music
  • Thursday - Culture alternating each week with respectful relationships (health).
