Junior School Report

Mr Nick Heading

2025 is a wrap! All done! All dusted!

Years 7, 8, and 9 are always such exciting times for our younger students, and it is worthwhile to reflect on this as we end the year. Junior School is a time for new beginnings and being at the start of something exciting.

For year 7s this was your first step in your high school journey. I know it’s been said before, but it really is one of the biggest years of your entire life! You have impressed your teachers thoroughly with your enthusiasm and optimistic nature, and I know many staff are excited to be teaching you in Year 8 in 2026 (myself included!).

For our year 8s and 9s, it was a new year of moving through high school, trying new subjects for the first time, preparing to enter the workforce and readying yourself for things like learners permits and work experience in Year 10. Exciting times ahead!

My biggest highlight for this year has been the Alice in Wonderland production, with quite a few of our Junior School students in the cast and crew. I’m chuffed to have seen already that the sign-up sheets for the production in 2026 have so many names on them already! The enthusiasm for these events is great to see, and the Junior School students are a real driving force behind this.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Junior School portfolio is being reduced to only Years 7 and 8, with the Year 9s being incorporated with the Year 10s into a Middle School. This is needed as the school has grown and the number of students monitored and supported in the portfolio has grown enormously. It is a wonderful demonstration of Greensborough College’s growth that we are this stage of development. Mr Callum Harber will be taking over this portfolio, but I will be sitting right next to him in our office next year and you are all welcome to come and find me if you ever need a hand.

Thanks again for supporting me in my first year as the Junior School leader. Parents and students alike have been most understanding, supportive, and collaborative in this time and together we have made such wonderful progress in strengthening the shared Junior School community and culture.

I’ll see you all in 2026. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
