Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Welcome back to the 2026 school year!

We have had a great start to the year, and despite the hot weather, our students have coped remarkably well and are quickly settling into their new classes and routines.  While the extreme temperatures have also meant fewer outdoor plays, it has been lovely seeing our students making the most of this and enjoying reconnecting with their peers through board games, drawing, construction and indoor table tennis!

Our first assembly was held today, with a brief explanation from class representatives as to what they will be focussing on this term. It was great to see new and existing families joining us and our new Year 6 students did a fantastic job of leading the assembly.

Those attending had the opportunity to meet Raffi the sea turtle, a new sculpture created by the 4/5 art class last year. In addition, some general information was also sent home yesterday on Compass.  If at anytime you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Breakfast Club is back this term and will be served up each Tuesday and Thursday morning, from 8.30am.  Many thanks to the

18 volunteers who will be helping out this term.  We really appreciate it!

Next Friday, 6th February, we will be hosting the Upper Kiewa Cluster Swimming Carnival for students in years 3-6.  Students are invited to come dressed in their (sunsmart) house colours, to support their team.  They should also have a rashie, a wide-brimmed hat to wear when not swimming and goggles and/or a cap if they need this, as well as extra towels, warm clothes (if it is cool) and plenty of water and food for the day.  Parent volunteers are essential for this event, and families are encouraged to come along and help out, and to cheer on our swimmers. Please let our office know asap if you can help out.

On Wednesday 11th February, the Mount Beauty CFA and CFA Community Safety will be hosting a Bushfire Information session. This event will be held after school, in our multi-purpose building.  Please refer to the Community News section for more information.

To celebrate the return to school, on Thursday, 12th February, families are invited to join us for a special Welcome to School afternoon tea from 3.20 - 4.00pm, in the multi-purpose building.  In addition to connecting with each other, we are also planning some activities, including the opportunity to visit your child's new classroom.
