Levels 3 & 4

The school year is now in full swing and we have all enjoyed getting to know each other and learn school routines and expectations. We will continue to revisit our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support expectations and practise behaviours that help us build our classroom environment and our relationships with others to support our learning. Over the coming weeks, we will begin some initial assessments, alongside the introduction of regular curriculum routines.
Specialist Timetable
Please find the current timetable below:
📚LITERACY:
We will be reading Last Stop on Market Street with a focus on its connection to our Big Idea of Community. Through the text, students will explore how communities are formed, the different roles people play within them, and why communities are important. Students will respond to the text through a range of reading and writing tasks that encourage reflection, discussion, and connection to their own experiences of community.
What you can do at home:
Look out for communities in books they are reading and discuss how characters are connected to one another.
🧮 MATHS:
We will be focusing on studying maps, learning how to create a map, including creating legends, creating 2D symbols for 3D objects, giving and following directions, reading grid maps as well as giving and following directions using grid references.
What you can do at home:
Show your children Maps or Google Maps and point out 2D symbols which represent 3D objects (parks, shops, bridges etc), and look at the Directions section or pull out a map and find points of interest or explain how to get from point A to point B.
🌏 CBL:
We will begin our CBL focus on the Big Idea of Community. Students will explore what communities are, what brings people together, and why people connect in groups and join communities. They will also begin to consider what they contribute to different communities and how they benefit from belonging.
What you can do at home
Talk with your child about the communities your family belongs to (for example, school, sports teams, cultural groups, or neighbourhoods). Discuss what makes these communities positive places to belong and how your family contributes to them.
