Grade 5/6 Learning French & English

News from Year 5/6

During the last two weeks, we met our new teachers, learned our classmates’ names and made new friends. The Year 5s also got new laptops. We played a game called Kayaki with Guillaume, our French teacher, and our English teacher is Camelia.

We organised our tubs, filled our pencil cases, picked lockers and put our bags in them. Camelia gave us stationery to keep and use during work and homework time. We also picked 3–5 books to read and borrow. In STEM, we started a project about extreme weather conditions.

We really enjoyed these couple of weeks and hope we have a great rest of the year.

On Wednesday last week, everyone started school again. Which means lots of things. One of the many is French! Guillaume is our 5\6 french teacher.

We have been getting to know each other, through class games and chatting together.

One of the games we played was bingo. You had to search around the entire class to find someone who had the same hair colour, hobby, or favourite ice cream flavour ect. And the aim was to find out new things about the new people around us.

As well as games we also did a lot of new organising.

We made Table tags,Tub tags, and organised our class library.

Along with cleaning the library, we searched for some just right french books that we would note in our french writing books, to aim to read during the year.

We are very fortunate to have many options for our reading. Such as comics, novels, picture books, non fiction books, fairy tales, magazines and a lot more.

Lastly, we have been doing french grammar.

Focusing on masculine and feminine words, doing worksheets.

To everyone, a good year.

 Thanks for reading.
