Year 12 Immersion

Year 12 Immersion Day 2026 – A Day of Inspiration, Insight & Impact

On Monday, our Year 12 students took part in the annual Immersion Day, an action-packed program held across the McIntosh Centre, La Trobe University Shepparton, and Fun Planet Kialla. The day blended hands-on learning with a strong focus on wellbeing, reminding students of the importance of looking after themselves throughout Year 12 and beyond. Our school nurses and Mental Health Practitioners played a huge role in shaping the day’s activities, offering guidance, support, and practical strategies for maintaining balance during the year ahead.

Students explored a range of opportunities through stalls hosted by local education providers, where they received guidance on choosing courses, understanding pathways, and learning how different programs and qualifications work. They also participated in sessions designed to manage stress and the pressures of exams and assessments, alongside workshops focused on the mind and body, with practical tips for feeling better and staying resilient. Teamwork activities added a fun, collaborative element, helping students build connections while developing problem-solving and communication skills.

A highlight of the day was guest speaker Ben Welch, whose story left a lasting impression. Ben shared how he transformed personal tragedy into a powerful community movement, raising an extraordinary amount of money for Headspace and championing support for young people. His message highlighted that there are many pathways in school and life after school, whether that’s work, university, or something entirely different and encouraged students to believe in themselves, look after their wellbeing, and follow the path that’s right for them.

In the afternoon, students headed to Fun Planet, where they enjoyed games and activities with peers, while getting to know new students and staff for the year ahead,  a fun and relaxed way to build connections and kick off the year.

We extend a heartfelt thank‑you to our incredible school partners, whose involvement helped showcase the many pathways, opportunities, and supports available during and after school:

The Lighthouse Project, The Apprenticeship Factory, Latrobe, GOTAFE, Headspace, CVGT, GANBINA

A big shout-out also goes to the local businesses and partners who contributed to our lucky-door hampers, these were a massive hit with our four lucky winners. Thank you for your generosity and community spirit:

Fun Planet, Stellar Coffee, GOTAFE, Latrobe
