Who's Who at MCHF - By Gabriella Massoud
Today’s Year 8 pastoral session focused on leadership, with students engaging in leadership presentations and officially commencing the nomination process. It was great to see students listening thoughtfully and beginning to reflect on the qualities of effective leaders. We wish all nominees the very best of luck as the voting process continues, and encourage everyone to participate respectfully and positively.

2026 marks 25 years of the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge.
It was introduced to encourage a love of reading in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a call for each student to read more, and to read more widely. The PRC officially opened on Monday, 23rd February and closes on Friday, 18th September. Any books read over the summer break can be added to your child’s book list. Over the coming weeks, students will receive their login details. It is an expectation that all students in Years K-9 participate. The challenge rules can be found here:

Please encourage your children to incorporate reading as part of their daily routine and to log their reading on the PRC portal.
Happy Reading!

Our school community gathered for the Year 7–11 Leadership Assembly, a meaningful occasion where we formally recognised and commissioned our 2026 student leaders. The assembly highlighted the dedication, service, and emerging leadership of students across Years 7–11, celebrating those who have already shown a strong commitment to their peers and to the life of the College. Families were able to join us via the live stream as we acknowledged each leader and affirmed the important role they will play in shaping our school community throughout the year.

Our 2026 Student Representative Council gathered today for a dynamic and inspiring SRC Training Day, setting the tone for a year of student voice, leadership, and service. Throughout the day, students engaged in team‑building activities, leadership workshops, and collaborative planning sessions designed to strengthen their confidence and clarify their vision for the year ahead. The program encouraged our young leaders to reflect on their responsibilities, explore effective communication strategies, and develop practical initiatives that will enrich the student experience across the College. Their enthusiasm, maturity, and commitment were evident in every discussion.
We look forward to seeing the SRC bring their ideas to life as they work together to represent their peers and contribute positively to our school community.
Year 7 students were guided during Pastoral Care by Ms Youssef, Mr Sassine, Mr Abood, Ms Iskander and Mr Gharrach. The session focused on the transition into high school and the challenges students may encounter along the way. They were reminded that through our culture and faith, we are equipped to overcome obstacles and remain on the right path.
This will be an ongoing focus throughout the year, aimed at building resilience and supporting students as they navigate social challenges and new experiences.

Our Year 10 cohort recently took part in the UNSW Gateway Workshop, an inspiring and engaging experience that encouraged us to explore our inner values and consider how they shape our future pathways. Throughout the session, presenters introduced a range of meaningful activities designed to help us reflect on who we are and who we aspire to be. The hour was filled with practical insights and thought‑provoking ideas that will no doubt support us as we navigate future academic and career decisions.
A highlight for many was the character‑building task, which demonstrated how personal values influence our identity and guide the choices we make in life. This activity helped us better understand not only ourselves, but also the diverse perspectives and strengths of those around us. Overall, the workshop provided a strong foundation for personal growth and self‑discovery, leaving us better equipped to recognise and appreciate the values that shape our everyday actions and long‑term goals.

This morning in pastoral, our Year 12 students focused on setting their Semester One SMART goals while also looking far beyond — imagining what the rest of the year and the next five years could hold. Through creativity and reflection, students created vision boards that represent the life they are inspiring for themselves. These visual reminders will be displayed in homerooms as a daily affirmation that they are in control of their goals, their mindset and their future. #Year12 #PastoralCare #GoalSetting #VisionBoards #FutureFocused #StudentWellbeing
