Our newest learners began their school journey this week, filling the College with excitement, curiosity, and plenty of proud smiles. From meeting their teachers to exploring their classrooms and making new friends, our Kindy students embraced every moment with confidence and wonder

While ATARs are the measure to rank students for the purpose of university entry, what makes teachers particularly excited is a rarely reported HSC metric of the Cumulative Learning Gain (CLG).
The CLG is the difference between a student’s actual HSC performance and their statistically expected performance. This is a combined measure of the value the teacher adds to the student's learning, and the effort and pure hard work the student puts into their study.
Check out the attached posts that are going out on socials today. Can you believe these CLG numbers? This is HUGE.
Please send this to all your networks. If you could promote this as much as possible, we would appreciate it!
A massive congratulations to the past students, and the teachers on these achievements. THIS IS WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE.

Today, our Year 8 leadership candidates spoke brilliantly and with genuine humility, clearly articulating what they would bring to the role and how they hope to make our College community even better. We wish all candidates the very best as voting has now commenced.

Kindy Red dived into creativity after listening to The Rainbow Fish! Inspired by the story’s message of kindness and sharing, the children created beautiful rainbow fish collages, carefully choosing colours and shiny scales. Their artworks sparkled just like their imaginations—and their generous hearts too.
Kindy Red put their reading hats on as they practised blending and reading CVC words through a fun cut-and-paste activity. Little hands were busy matching sounds to words, building confidence and showing off some super sounding-out skills!

Our short‑stay students have brought wonderful energy to the Drama classroom this week, joining our Stage 5 cohort for a series of collaborative workshops. Together, students explored movement, improvisation, and character work, building confidence while forming new friendships across year groups. It has been a joy to see our visitors step outside their comfort zone, contribute creatively, and fully immerse themselves in the expressive world of Drama. Their enthusiasm has enriched the learning experience for everyone involved.
Kindy Blue today, our students created Valentine’s Day art to thank their parents for their continuous kindness, love, and affection ❤️🎨
Thank you, mums and dads, for all that you do 💕

Kindy Red had a shape-tastic time exploring 2D shapes in Maths! We learned to name and describe circles, squares, triangles and rectangles, talking about their sides and corners like real shape experts. Then the fun really began… using colourful pieces of paper, we designed our very own Shape Monsters! With triangle teeth, rectangle arms and circle eyes, our classroom quickly filled with the most creative (and slightly cheeky!) monsters you’ve ever seen. Learning has never looked so monstrously fun!

Our Year 12 CAFS students spent a highly productive afternoon with Mrs Ishak, diving deeply into what awaits them in just a few months’ time — the HSC CAFS exam. 📝✨
This intensive workshop gave students direct, hands-on exposure to real HSC expectations. Under Mrs Ishak’s guidance, they analysed a wide range of past‑paper responses, stepping into the role of exam markers to evaluate the quality, structure, and sophistication of each example.
Students explored:
🔹 Different writing styles and response structures, comparing how organisation and clarity influence the strength of an answer.
🔹 What makes a response strong — and what weakens it, by examining real samples across a spectrum of quality.
🔹 The defining features of Band 1–6 responses, breaking down the depth, detail, and application of concepts that separate lower-band answers from high-achieving ones.
🔹 Strategies for developing ideal HSC-style responses, including how to integrate syllabus content, justify points with relevant evidence, and communicate ideas with precision and purpose.
Through discussion, critique, and collaborative evaluation, students left with a sharper understanding of what high-quality HSC responses look like — and how to produce them confidently. It was an eye‑opening, empowering session led by Mrs Ishak, and we are incredibly proud of the students’ engagement, effort, and commitment to their learning.

Kindy Red explored what it means to be connected to the people in our lives during their Personal Development and Health lesson. Through stories and conversation, the children shared who they know, who cares for them, and how we show kindness, trust, and respect in our relationships. To bring their learning to life, they created colourful paper chains, with each link representing someone special — family members, friends, and community helpers who support and care for us every day. Together, the chains became a beautiful reminder that we are all connected and never alone.

As part of the MCHF staff collaboration, Mr Isaac led a vibrant Year 9 Music session filled with rhythm and energy 🎶✨. Students explored Duration and musical notation, with a strong emphasis on rhythmic patterns. They then refined their understanding of note names and note values. The class clapped, chanted and created rhythmic sequences together, building great momentum and sparking plenty of light‑bulb moments along the way.
