Welcome to the 2026 school year.  It has been a wonderful start to the term, and I am incredibly proud of the way our students, staff, and families have settled back into school routines with such positivity and enthusiasm.

A special welcome to our Prep students, new staff and new families who are joining our school community for the first time. Starting school is a major milestone, and our staff have been working hard to ensure a calm, supportive transition. Thank you to our parents and carers for helping the mornings run smoothly—your support makes a big difference.

Our School Priorities for 2026

This year, our whole‑school focus will continue to centre on:

  • Student wellbeing and engagement
  • Strong foundations across all curriculum areas (in particular READING)
  • High expectations and positive behaviour for learning (PBL)

Staff have spent the pupil‑free days planning high‑quality teaching and learning programs to set our students up for success from day one.

Our Commitment to Brighter Futures

This year, our work at Goondiwindi State Primary School also aligns with the Department of Education’s commitment to delivering brighter futures for young people, supported through statewide investment in quality schooling and future-focused educational initiatives.

Back to School Boost Initiative

This year, families will benefit from the Queensland Government’s new Back to School Boost, which provides a $100 credit for every primary school student from Prep to Year 6 to help reduce the cost of school essentials, such as camps, excursions and other school‑based activities. The credit is automatically applied to student accounts at the start of the school year, giving families practical, timely cost‑of‑living support right when school expenses are highest.  Families have received more detailed information from the school office last week.

School Leadership

Congratulations to our School Leaders and Sem 1 Class Captains, who all received their badges last week at the Investiture assembly.  To be a leader is a privilege and we know that each of you will take on your leadership roles with pride (even when noone is watching).

Attendance Matters

An important reminder that Every Day Counts. Consistent attendance helps students build confidence, maintain routines, and stay connected with learning. If your child is away, please remember to contact the school office, 4677733

  • P&C AGM & General Meetings– Tuesday March 17, 5.30pm
