School Council Nominations 2026–2027
Shortly, a Compass notification will be sent out calling for nominations for our 2026–2027 School Council. School Council plays a vital role in shaping the growth and strategic direction of our school. Council members are responsible for developing key policies (for example, our uniform policy), overseeing the annual budget and school assets, fostering community interest and engagement, and supporting the school to provide a safe environment for all students.
For the upcoming term, we have four parent positions available, as well as two staff positions.
When nominations open, if you are even slightly curious about joining School Council, I encourage you to come and have a chat with me. I am always happy to share more about the role and what is involved.
Thank You for Your Support During Relocation Days
A sincere thank you to all of our families for your support during our recent relocation days. We know these days can be challenging and require changes to routines at very short notice, and we truly appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by our community.
Relocation days also involve significant preparation behind the scenes. We do not receive confirmation that a relocation is required until 4:30 pm the day before, which means staff then need to act quickly to confirm transport, supervision, and logistics for the following day. Staff remain onsite until all SMS replies have been received, as having accurate numbers is essential to ensure we book the correct number of buses.
Thank you for responding promptly when messages are sent. Your quick replies help us plan safely and efficiently, and they also support the school to manage costs, as bus transport is paid for by the school. We are very grateful to have such a supportive community working alongside us to keep students and staff safe.
Foundation Students Starting School
We are delighted to welcome the many new families who have joined our Macedon Primary School community this year. A very warm welcome to you all. We are so pleased you are here and we look forward to partnering with you in the years ahead.
It has been wonderful speaking with families and sharing in your child’s first experiences of school life. Our Foundation students have shown incredible resilience, particularly as they have had to navigate relocation days and travel by bus to Sunbury. Despite these disruptions, the Foundation classrooms have been a real hive of activity, with students settling in, learning new routines, and building connections with their teachers and classmates.
One of the highlights of the week has been seeing so many Foundation students proudly greeting their parents and carers at the end of the day, eager to share what they have been doing. We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to watching our newest students continue to grow in confidence and independence.
Classroom Open Evening
We’re looking forward to welcoming families to our Classroom Open Evening on Wednesday 18th February, from 3:45 pm – 4:45 pm. This event was rescheduled due to an Extreme Fire Day relocation, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
Parents and carers are warmly invited to visit your child’s new classroom while classrooms are open across the school. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and say hello, have a look at the learning space, see where your child sits, learn about classroom expectations and routines, and get a sense of the resources and learning tools students use each day.
It’s also a lovely chance to connect with other families and help strengthen the sense of community within our school.
We hope to see you there!
Please Use Our Crossings
We are seeing more families walking, riding, and scootering to school. Active travel is a healthy, social, and environmentally friendly way to get to and from school — but it’s important to stay safe on the journey.
Our crossing guards have noticed that a number of families are not utilising our school crossings at drop-off and pick-up times. It is incredibly important that all students, and especially our Foundation students, learn to use the school crossing correctly and safely. Using the supervised crossing helps children build lifelong road safety habits and ensures they are crossing in the safest location at the busiest times of the day.
The following safety checklist has been sourced from the TAC (Transport Accident Commission):
- plan the safest route (this is not always the quickest)
- choose quieter streets with lower speed limits (ideally 40km/h or less)
- cross at pedestrian crossings, signals, or where drivers can see you
- always wear a helmet (it's the law and reduces injury risk by 74%)
- choose footpaths, shared use and bike paths
- stay close and actively supervise them at all times
- role model ‘Stop, Look, Listen and Think’ when crossing roads
- always hold their hand when near traffic and crossing roads
By taking these simple steps, we can all enjoy the benefits of safe active travel.

Compass
Compass is now up and running, and families are able to log in successfully. If you are experiencing any issues accessing your account, please contact Salina in the office and we will support you to get set up.
Now that Compass is in place, families no longer need to use the XUNO app for school communication.
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
Principal
