Respect, Responsibility and Kindness

Welcome to Grade 3/4 with Ms Skye

Hello and welcome to Grade 3/4 with Ms Skye for 2026! It has been wonderful getting to know the students as we settle into the new school year together.

Week 2 has been focused on revisiting our classroom expectations and routines, both inside the classroom and around the school.

Students have shown great effort in learning and following these expectations, and they are settling in beautifully.

In Reading, we have been spending time finding just-right books that support each student’s reading development. We are practising silent reading and focusing on reading with fluency, expression, and accuracy, helping students build confidence and enjoyment in their reading.

In Writing, students are exploring ideas they could write about and discussing what makes a good story. We have begun building the foundations for narrative writing, including thinking about characters, settings, and interesting story ideas.

In Mathematics, we are diving into place value

Students are learning to read and say larger numbers beyond the thousands, expand standard numbers, explore different number names, and organise numbers in ascending and descending order.

Our gardening session this week was a collaborative effort, where we met Chelsea and began organising ideas around what our gardening program will look like this year. Students shared thoughtful ideas and showed great enthusiasm for what’s to come.

Overall, the students have made a strong start to the year and are showing positive attitudes toward their learning, routines, and responsibilities.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic year ahead with this wonderful group!
