Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the 2026 school year. It has been wonderful to see our students return well rested and full of enthusiasm. I am especially proud of the confident and fun filled start our Kindergarten children have made. Their smiles, curiosity, and readiness to learn have already brought new energy to our school. I look forward to a year filled with growth, connection, and shared success for every member of our St Margaret Mary’s community.

Opening School Mass

Congratulations to our Newly Commissioned School Leaders. Today we gathered as a community to celebrate our Opening School Mass, a beautiful way to begin the year in faith and unity. Congratulations to our newly commissioned school leaders, who accepted their badges with pride and a clear sense of responsibility. We also extend a warm welcome to Fr Carroll as he continues to settle into our parish and school community. His presence and leadership enriched our celebration, and we look forward to working closely with him throughout the year.

Welcome to new Staff

This year we are delighted to welcome several new staff members to St Margaret Mary’s. Beginning a new role can feel overwhelming, but I am pleased to share that Mr Richie (STEM) and Mrs Shoushani (SPORT) have already made a strong start and are proving to be a great fit for our school community. Their professionalism, warmth, and enthusiasm have been evident from day one, and the children have embraced them with open arms. We are also fortunate to welcome two familiar faces into full‑time teaching roles for 2026: Miss Parry in Year 1 and Miss Harrison in Year 4. Both bring strong teaching experience, deep knowledge of our students, and a genuine commitment to our school values.

We are still in the process of finding the right person to step into the Family Faith Educator role following Mrs Gravina’s departure. This position is vital to the faith life of our school, and we are taking the time needed to ensure we appoint someone who will serve our community with the same dedication and care. Once this role is filled, we will also be able to confirm the start date for Playgroup this term. We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated as soon as arrangements are finalised.

Meet and Greet Welcome BBQ

Thursday 12 February

Next week, we invite all families to join us for our Meet and Greet Welcome BBQ. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers, meet other families, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon together.

This year, we are also excited to host a Scholastic Book Fair. Scholastic's has offered us a generous deal: for every book purchased, the school receives another book free. Our goal is to refresh and expand our classroom libraries, so we hope our community will support this initiative. The Book Fair will be open during the break between the two classroom sessions on Thursday 12 February.

This year our Kindergarten teacher, Ms Pribilovics, will be meeting with parents individually and our Year 1 teacher Miss Parry will be running her Meet and Greet Session on Wednesday morning from 8.1 am. Sessions for Yr 2 - Yr 6 will be on Thursday evening but I encourage you to check the messages each classroom teacher has sent.
