THE GREAT STEAM CHALLENGE IV

This week, we hosted the final day of our Primary School HPGE STEAM program, which featured race day. 

Our STEAM project provided an enriching opportunity for high potential and gifted education students from our local primary schools. Over three weeks, four selected students from each school; Mascot, Gardeners Road, Eastlakes, and Botany Public Schools, collaborated in mixed groups to design and build a solar-powered car. This interdisciplinary project was facilitated by expert staff from the Science, HSIE, and Industrial Arts faculties, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

Next week, Thursday 19 August from 6 pm to 7 pm, all primary school students and J J mentors will be recognised at an awards evening.

SOUTHS CARES INDUSTRY VISIT 

Last week, our Aboriginal students had an incredible day at the South Sydney Rabbitohs Headquarters, taking part in the Souths Cares Industry Visit. 

This exclusive opportunity allowed them to watch the Rabbitohs’ captain’s run as the players prepared for their big Indigenous Round clash against the Parramatta Eels. Our students explored a variety of careers within a professional sporting environment, met players, and connected with fellow Souths Cares participants. 

It was a wonderful day and the students had an amazing time. A big thank you to Ms. Johnson for accompanying our students and supporting this memorable experience.

STUDENT COMMUNITY SPORTING SUCCESS

Congratulations to Year 7 students Peyton W. and Elizabeth H. who competed in the All Ability Netball Carnival over the weekend with the Randwick Netball Association at Eastwood Ryde Netball Courts. 

Playing for the Randwick Sparkles, their team finished as runners-up against teams from across the state. Throughout the tournament, Peyton scored an impressive 8 points, while Elizabeth contributed 5 points. 

We are so proud of these two students and their fantastic sporting achievements!
