BISSA Athletics Carnival 

What a fantastic day it was at the BISSA Athletics Carnival for our Kildare students! 

A special mention must go to John, who performed exceptionally by winning the 14 Years Boys 800m and setting a brand-new Age Record with a time of 2:12.12. 

John backed up his performance with another victory in the 14 Years Boys 400m Run.

Other standout individual winners on the podium included Ivana-Rose in the 15’s Girls 100m sprint, Maddison in the 12’s Girls Shot Put, and Ethan in the 15’s Boys Triple Jump. 

Our relay teams also showed great speed and teamwork, with both the 14’s Boys and 15’s Girls 4x100m teams claiming first place.

In addition to our winners, many students achieved impressive podium finishes, claimed personal best times or simply enjoyed the day, getting out and active with their friends and opposing students from other schools.

Good luck to the 14 Kildare students who have qualified for the NSWCCC Athletics Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park later this year.

Kildare Catholic College Swimmer Breaks Seven Records at NSW Titles

Kildare Catholic College student Andre has announced himself as one of Australia’s most promising young swimmers after a remarkable performance at the 2026 NSW All Schools Swimming Championships. 

Competing against the state’s best school-aged swimmers at Sydney Olympic Park, the Wagga Wagga teenager broke seven championship records while claiming multiple gold medals across freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and individual medley events. 

Andre began his record-breaking campaign by winning the boys’ 15–16 years 200m breaststroke in 2:22.94 before setting another championship mark of 4:27.87 in the 400m individual medley. 

He continued his dominance throughout the meet, setting new championship records in the open 800m freestyle (8:24.51), boys’ 15–16 years 200m individual medley (2:07.48), 400m freestyle (4:03.36), 200m backstroke (2:07.01) and 200m freestyle (1:55.11). 

The breadth of his success across multiple disciplines highlighted his versatility and endurance, making him one of the standout performers of the championships. 

His achievements have since been recognised nationally, with Labara selected in the Australian Junior Pan Pacific Games Team. He will  represent Australia at the Junior Pan Pacific Games in Vancouver, Canada, from 17–20 August. 

He has also been named in Swimming Australia’s 2026–27 National Flippers Squad, a high-performance development program that identifies emerging athletes with the potential to progress to future Australian senior teams. Kildare Catholic College sports coordinator Ryan Price praised Andre’s dedication and commitment. 

“Andre’s performances at NSW All Schools were nothing short of outstanding,” Price said. 

“To break seven championship records across such a diverse range of events is an incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work, commitment and resilience he brings to training every day. 

“We are extremely proud of what he has accomplished and excited to see what the future holds for him.” 

Andre's next challenge will be representing the NSW All Schools Team at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships, to be held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre from 25–30 July, where he will compete against the nation’s best young swimmers.
