PYP In Action

Juniors - Unit of Inquiry
The Juniors have had a busy couple of weeks. The students were lucky to attend incursions from RACV and Barwon Water on the same day. Currently in our Unit of Inquiry, we are exploring the Central Idea that, ‘Using water responsibly leads to a sustainable future.’ Globally, students have discovered that not everyone in the world has access to clean water. Locally, we are learning where our water comes from, how and where we obtain it, and what our responsibility is. Students are leading towards making water pledges and creating and sharing ideas on how they can save water at home and at school.
DEBATING UPDATE
On Wednesday the 5th of August both Highton debating teams made the trek to the Surf Coast campus of Christan College where they debated that ‘school students should be given pocket money’. Our A team consisting of; Alex, Ana, Claudia & Hazel were the negative team and sadly lost by just 1 point and our B team consisting of; Felix, Jack, Angus & Hazel ( a big thank you for stepping in) were the affirmative team and took out the win, with Jack being awarded the best speaker. We now look forward to our last debate on Wednesday the 9th of September to be held at Highton Primary School if you’d like to come and watch them in action.
