Year 5/6 camp
Our Year 5/6 students had an unforgettable time at camp in Ballarat and Sovereign Hill.
Throughout the week, students challenged themselves, built resilience, and created lasting memories with their peers. Highlights included the giant swing, flying fox, milk crate stacking, archery, orienteering, and frisbee golf at Log Cabin Camp. Students also enjoyed stepping back in time at Sovereign Hill, where they explored life during the gold rush era and participated in a range of hands-on learning experiences.
It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another, overcoming fears, and demonstrating excellent teamwork and behaviour throughout the camp. We are incredibly proud of the way all students represented our school and embraced every opportunity.
We’d also like to offer a special thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to support our camp.

5/6 Log Cabin Camp - 2026

Our trip to log cabin camp Ballarat and sovereign hill was a wonderful and unforgettable experience which was filled with adventures, teamwork and fun.
Over the days we were away I had the opportunity to try all the different activities; some new and interesting things and build new and stronger friendships.
Some of the activities I participated in included the giant swing, milk crate stacking, the flying fox, orienteering and frisbee golf. Each individual activity helped me build lots of new skills including patience, concentration, building my confidence and bravery.
I really enjoyed working with my teammates because they were all really kind and supportive. They were all encouraging and supportive when someone needed a little help and they all helped each other in their own and different ways. The flying fox was fast which tested my bravery. Archery tested my confidence and taught me to control my patience. Milk crate stacking required teamwork, balance and everyone helping. Orienteering made us work together as a team to solve the challenges and frisbee golf taught us momentum and focus.
We also went to Sovereign Hill which was fun because there were lots to do and see like the little shops (and the lolly shop!), the gold mine and gold panning (just to name a few!)
I think anyone else who goes to log cabin camp Ballarat will also have an awesome experience just like all the 5/6 students did!

This year we went to Log Cabin Camp in Creswick, Victoria. I enjoyed many things on this fantastic camp but I also had a lot of challenges that I had to overcome which is why I think Log Cabin Camp was the best camp I've been on.
There were lots of fun activities such as giant swing, frisbee golf, archery, trampolining, milk create stacking, obstacle course and flying fox but unfortunately I had to miss the flying fox since I had to go home for a spotting event.
The most enjoyable part of camp was Sovereign Hill. We did gold panning, went down to a real mine and even saw gold being melted and being turned into a gold bar! We were each allowed to bring 50 dollars to buy souvenirs but most people bought presents for their mum for Mother’s Day.
The challenges I faced at camp was having to leave half way though and the challenge of having to get to sleep after an exciting day. But after a while we all went to sleep.
I think if camp was a little longer we could get to do all the fun activities that camp has to offer. I suggest Monday to Friday for 5/6 camp and Tuesday to Thursday for 3/4 camp.
That is why Log Cabin Camp is the best and funest camp I’ve been on. Changing just one thing could make it the best camp there ever was!
