College Music Program

Our music program has had a vibrant and energetic start to the year, with a wide range of opportunities for students to get involved, develop their skills, and perform.
We are especially excited to be launching our Year 7 Concert Band in Term 2. This ensemble is open to all Year 7 students, whether they are complete beginners or have prior experience. Students are invited to learn and play a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument in a supportive and collaborative environment. To further support their musical development, instrumental lessons are available at the school in both small group and individual formats, allowing students to progress at their own pace.
Our Saint Cecilia Concert Band (senior players) has already been busy this term, proudly performing at our recent ANZAC Service. Their performance was a meaningful and respectful contribution to the ceremony, and they represented the school with great professionalism and pride.
There are many free ensemble opportunities available for students across all year levels. These include the Cecilia Concert Band, guitar ensembles, ukulele group, choirs, woodwind ensemble, flute ensemble, and brass ensemble. These groups provide students with the chance to rehearse regularly, build confidence, and experience the enjoyment of making music together.
In addition, our Production Band has been working hard behind the scenes, rehearsing every Monday night. Students involved have shown great commitment and enthusiasm as they prepare for upcoming performances later in the year at the West Gippsland Performing Arts Centre.
We strongly encourage all students to take advantage of these opportunities, whether they are trying music for the first time or continuing a long-standing interest. Being part of the music program is a fantastic way to build skills, make new friends, and contribute to the vibrant life of our school community.
We look forward to another exciting year of music-making and performances!
