Catholic Identity
Leader: Katie Rasmussen
Over the coming weeks, we will be exploring the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and how they are lived out within our school community.
Catholic Social Teaching helps guide us in how we live out our faith through our actions — caring for others, treating people with dignity, working for fairness and caring for God’s creation.
Throughout this series, we will explore:
• Human Dignity
• Common Good & Solidarity
• Preferential Option for the Poor & Participation
• Care for Creation & Subsidiarity

Human Dignity reminds us that everyone is made in God’s image and that everyone is special.
At St Patrick’s, we encourage students to recognise the value in themselves and in others. We work to create a school environment where every child feels safe, welcomed and supported to be themselves.
Through our school values of Kindness, Respect and Learning, students are encouraged to include others, celebrate differences and treat people with compassion and fairness. Human Dignity is lived out in the everyday moments of school life such as inviting someone into a game, encouraging a classmate when learning feels challenging, listening respectfully to others and recognising that every person has gifts and strengths to share with our community.
This teaching connects strongly with our Brigidine tradition of Strength and Kindliness, encouraging students to show courage, compassion and care towards others each day.
By helping students understand that every person matters, we continue to build a community where everyone feels known, valued and cared for.
