Visual Art – All About Colour

Zac F and Cooper HB were highly engaged in the practical visual arts lessons with Mrs Kent. Students explored colour through a range of hands-on activities and demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity and confidence when experimenting with different materials and techniques.

Students have enjoyed creating lines through charcoal drawings focused on trees and light.

Technology – 

For the Love of a Sandwich

In Technology, Mrs Kent supported students to develop practical cooking and food preparation skills through the unit For the Love of a Sandwich. Students focused on accurately measuring ingredients and confidently selected appropriate measuring equipment for different tasks. As with students in mainstream practical subjects, students within the IEC are also expected to demonstrate safe practices when selecting and using tools, technologies and processes.

PDHPE

In PDHPE, Taylen T participated in skill drills with a focus on developing gross motor skills, patience and accuracy. Through structured activities, Taylen worked on coordination, control and persistence while engaging positively in practical movement tasks.

Students also lead active lives outside of school and enjoy sharing their achievements with peers and staff. Jordon W recently competed in a fishing competition at Copeton Dam and was very proud of his efforts and success. Well done, Jord — great catch!

Science

This term we have been busy exploring the human body through our science unit, "Health and Disease". Students had a wonderful time creating a life-sized human model named Henry, which helped them discover different organs, their vital functions, and where they belong in the body.

We have also been learning about the importance of sustainability. The students have loved planting and caring for their very own garden bed, where they have sown leeks, swedes, cabbage, and paper daisies. Tending to the garden daily, the students eagerly water their growing crops and look forward to the day they can cook and eat their harvest.

Literacy

Students have been mastering conjunctions and practicing how to "kick out" unnecessary letters when forming contractions.
