Guidance and Counselling - Youth Mental Health Apps

Greetings to students and families. Week 4 term 2 each year sees the beginning of an increase in student stress and pressure due to looming academic assessment. Stress and pressure that impacts on sleep, routines, ability to think clearly, and reduced efficiency in memory retention and recall. Essentially, one’s overall sense of wellbeing.

This imbalance is a part of life, and is yet another learning for students at school, how to adaptively navigate through unbalanced and stressful times. In this newsletter piece we thought adding some App resources for parents to support their children might be a good way to help them learn skills and strategies in how to do so.

For our regular readers, you will know we are fans of the ‘Kids Helpline’ site – a dedicated Youth Mental Health support service that has tele and online Counselling 24/7, as well as a plethora of resources for Parents and young people. Their site is https://kidshelpline.com.au/ and we encourage you to take a look with your child.

They also have a page specifically dedicated to providing access to the best Apps for supporting youth mental health. The site is below for you to find an App relevant to the needs of your child https://kidshelpline.com.au/tools/apps

Many thanks for reading, and we hope the apps are useful. As always, please reach out to us if you feel we can help – your School Counselling Team.
