German Learning – Term 2.

This term in German at Lockleys North Primary School, students are building their confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing through engaging, real-world topics.

Our Year 3/4 students are exploring the topic of weather. They are learning to describe different weather conditions using phrases such as “Das Wetter ist…” and “Es ist…”. With vocabulary including sonnig (sunny), windig (windy), wolkig (cloudy) and regnet (raining), students are developing the language needed to talk about everyday weather. As a culmination of their learning, they will compose and present their own weather forecasts, practising both pronunciation and presentation skills.

Meanwhile, Year 5/6 students are focusing on body parts and health. They are learning to hear, say and write sentences describing what hurts, such as “Mein Kopf tut weh”. This practical vocabulary is being applied in a fun and interactive role play titled “At the Chemist”. Through this task, students are developing conversational skills and building confidence in using German in real-life situations.

It has been wonderful to see students actively participating and growing in their language learning this term.
