CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Maths this week the Foundation students will be learning about data.

VOCABULARY

Data : Number or quantity of something. 

Collection: gathering information about something. 

Compare: identifying which data set has less and which has more. 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

The parents can help the child to learn about Data by doing the following experiences

1. Ask your child to make a column in a book and count how many bananas or apples they can see at home. The students need to put a tally mark for each fruit they count. It could be any other fruit or anything that they can compare.
2.  Get your child a pack of skittles and ask them to sort into different colours and compare the number of different colours.
