CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Writing this week Foundation students will be learning about how to write a letter. We will be following the structure of a letter by including a greeting, message, question and sign off. 

VOCABULARY

Letter: a piece of writing addressed to another person that you may send in the mail or give to them in person. 

Greeting: How you begin a letter such as Hello, Hi, Good Morning, To, Dear etc. 

Message: something you wish to say to somebody such as ‘I hope you're having a great day!’. 

Question: something you would like to ask someone e.g. ‘How was your weekend?’. 

Sign off: the way we end a letter e.g. From, Love, See you soon 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child discuss the four parts we can include in a letter 

(greeting, message, question and sign off). 

With your child verbally say a letter that you could write to someone. 

Your child may wish to have a go at writing a letter too!
