Parents' voice

Africa Day, May 17 at CJC.

We hope that everyone had a lovely time at today’s Mother’s Day Breakfast and that your children were able to purchase something special for their Mum or Carer at our stall.  An extra special thank-you to the coordinators of these events: Marc Warshall and Tim Hall for the breakfast and Marcella Wilder and Sandi Casaroli who ran the stall, as well as all the volunteers  on the day. It is no easy feat to cater a breakfast for 400 people and to buy beautiful gifts and assemble flower posies for more than 560 students.

The Working Bee last weekend was well attended and the BBQ was enjoyed by all. The list of jobs coordinated by our Gardening Group made the Bee very efficient.

AFRICA DAY – 17 MAY 3.30pm – 5.30pm

Next week we will celebrate the very first Africa Day at CJC from 3.30pm to 5.30pm! There will be a dance lesson, face painting, music, badge making, African food (corn cobs, beignets, Gateaux Manioc, Mauritian curries, and banana cake) and traditional childhood games including:

  • Potato and spoon race
  • Bike tyre race
  • Tin can knock-down
  • Mbube Mbube (blindfolded animal hide and seek)

We need some volunteers to assist us with setting up the activities, food service and supervising some childhood games including: AFRICA DAY VOLUNTEER SHEET

Thank you to our Africa Day coordinators: Clarel Philibert, Pascale Fedele and Philomen Sadi Mateta, and to Lynda-Rose Rechter who had the idea in the first place.
