As Week 4 comes to an end, students are now well and truly settled into the school term. The Year 9 and 10 students, however, have a busy second half of the term to look forward to with the following events to come:
With the first round of exams that may be making some of the students a little nervous, my advice to students is the following:
Be prepared: It is important to start your exam preparation early to give yourself the best chance of retaining the information you need and giving it the meaning that will help you to excel in your exam.
Organise your study space: Make sure you have enough space to spread your textbooks and notes out. Have you got enough light? Is your chair comfortable? Are your computer games out of sight?
Take regular breaks: While you may think it's best to study for as many hours as possible, this can actually be counterproductive. If you were training for a marathon, you wouldn't try and run 24 hours a day. Likewise, studies have shown that for long-term retention of knowledge, taking regular breaks really helps.
After a successful Interhouse Cross Country some of our Year 9 & 10 students really shone and have been awarded the chance to represent the school at the upcoming ACC Cross Country Carnival. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their talent on the biggest stage for the school as all 89 schools who are a member of the ACC come together to compete.
