Political Campaigns

As part of the Year 9 Humanities curriculum, Year 9 students are embarking on an exciting journey to explore the intricacies of political campaigns within the realm of Humanities. Tasked with creating their own school political party and vying for the coveted title of "Prime Minister" in a mock election, students are diving headfirst into the world of Australian Politics.

With each group member assuming specific roles, each team has delved into comprehensive research, dissecting the values, promises, and campaign strategies of their assigned political parties.

Armed with knowledge and creativity, groups embark on the crucial phase of crafting and executing their political campaigns. From the creation of compelling posters and TV advertisements to the orchestration of candidate speeches, students have employed a diverse array of strategies to garner support for their candidates.

Through active participation and engagement, students gain invaluable insights into the inner workings of political campaigns, empowering them to become informed and discerning citizens of tomorrow. One of the many benefits of Humanities!

Marine and Maritime Studies - Skipper’s Tickets

Year 12 APEx Marine and Maritime Studies students have been undertaking their Recreational Skippers Ticket Qualification which they will have for life. Students are given the opportunity to develop responsible and competent boat-handling and navigation skills, and in doing so, demonstrate an understanding of nautical concepts. They develop knowledge of the properties inherent in seaworthy craft, and the basics of good boat design, construction and maintenance.

Binar-X Co-Curricular

Students are working with researchers from Curtin University to learn about space science, engineering and physics. They are learning how satellites work and are designing and building a micro satellite, that will be sent into space with Curtin University and six other schools in two years' time, aboard a SpaceX rocket. It is really exciting, and students have been busy designing their payloads and working on the electrical components.
