Greeting our Grammarians

This week it has been wonderful to see some of our recently graduated St George’s Anglican Grammar School students return to the city to give back to their school. This year we invited interested Grammarians the chance to offer free tutoring and support to our Year 11 and 12 students studying for their Semester One Examinations as part of the Legendary Learners study sessions which run in the lead up to both Semester One and Two Examinations in the Laurence Library after school until 7.30 at night. Studying with peers has frequently been seen to deepen the learning process and support the growth of an academic mindset for our students. These study sessions have seen many of our Year 11 and 12 students remain at school to attend teacher led seminars and revision classes in preparation for their first set of exams.

To see our recent high-flying alumni support our current students to hone their study skills by sharing their knowledge as well as their own unique study tips and tricks for future success has brought me much joy. These highly accomplished Grammarians are now all pursuing their chosen field of study at university but have enjoyed returning to St George’s to support our Year 11 and 12s find success in their study journeys. I have been delighted to meet up with them again and share in their many adventures and stories post school.

Today we also welcomed many of our Class of 2023 back for the Year 13 Breakfast on Level 4. To maintain a connection with school after graduation is something to be cherished. The Year 13 Breakfast has quickly become an important event on the St George’s School calendar and it was terrific to hear of their very many different and unique pathways post school.

Bringing alumnae back to interact with current students is an invaluable practice and one that I am committed to develop and grow. It not only strengthens the sense of community but serves as a powerful source of inspiration for students.

Wishing all of our Grammarians, current families and students a wonderful weekend celebrating Mother's Day.

Warmest wishes,

Mrs Tina Campbell
