Term 2 Week 5

Konnichiwa families,

We had a very busy week in Japanese celebrating Kodomo no hi (Children's day)

that falls on the 5th day of the 5th month each year.

Koi shaped kites are flown outside houses on flagpoles to represent each family member.

The koi represent strength and courage as they can swim against the current and jump back up waterfalls!

Parents hope that their children grow up to be strong and brave just like a koi.

Students have been making the traditional koi kites or koinobori in class.

Watch them fly!!!!

MUSIC ROOM UPDATE

Fun is still being had in the Music Room!

Prep children have been singing well known songs and nursery rhymes. We have been exploring 'piano' and 'forte' sound by using Mrs Murphy's African drums. Children have been taking it in turns to play loud and soft following a rollercoaster conductor. We have also continued to LOVE the rainbow scarves.

Year One children have been bucket drumming and copying beats as a group. We even had fun with our rainbow scarves and made Mario Cart tracks and 'drove' around to different track sounds doing actions. Teamwork was important to keep the track in shape!

Year Two children are LOVING their bucket drumming and have been playing along to 'Firework' by Katy Perry. We have had to learn different rhythms to play and doing a fantastic job at playing in time!! We enjoy a chair boogie sing along during the chorus! The Year Two's were the inventors of the Mario Cart tracks and have LOVED exploring to different songs and creating cool tracks.
