Each student at SMDP learns Digital Technologies once a fortnight apart from their specialist program. This term in Grade Prep to Six students will be learning how to code using block coding which is a simple programming language. Research tells us that there are many benefits for students to learn how to code such as priming creativity, problem-solving and fostering skills that they may need in the future.

This term if your child is in Grade One to Six they might have come home telling you they have been learning how to code an Edison Robot. The Edison robot is specifically designed for young learners. It's user-friendly, durable, and packed with features that make coding fun and engaging. Students are able to make the robot move by using block coding on an iPad or Chromebook. So far we have been engaged in learning how to make them move, race them, and try and get them to get through a maze. We can’t wait to see more of the learning the students continue to do with the Edison robots this Term.
