Dogs at School

A "Dogs on School Grounds" policy was approved at school council on 29th April 2024. The policy is attached. The main point (taken from the policy) is below:

*Dogs are not permitted within the Wheelers Hill Primary School grounds or within Wheelers Hill Primary School buildings at any time, unless prior approval has been obtained by the Principal.

In the very near future, signage will be placed around the school entrances / exits to remind people of the policy.

Prep Enrolment 2025 - Sibling Enrolments

Applications for Prep 2025 are now open. As per the Department of Education's placement policy, all siblings of students already enrolled in the school are guaranteed a place BUT you still need to fill in an application form.

Information about enrolment and applications can be found on our school website. This year, applications are completed online (not paper).

We would appreciate all sibling applications to be submitted by the end of the term, so we have an idea of our prep numbers for next year. Thank you!

Year 5 Camp

Next week our Year 5 students head off to Log Cabin Camp and Sovereign Hill for three days of fun and excitement. We wish you all a wonderful time and lots of sunshine too. We look forward to hearing about your adventures on your return to school.

School Hours and Supervision

The school day at WHPS starts at 8:50am. Students are expected to be at school by this time and start preparing for their first lesson at 9am.

Students are supervised in the school yard from 8:40am, and up until 3:45pm at the end of the day. Please do not drop your child off at school before 8:40am as they will be unsupervised until this time. Students should also not enter school buildings or classrooms before 8:50am. Teachers are preparing for the school day before then and are not expected to supervise children.

Assemblies in Term 2

Assembly will continue to be run by our student leaders at 2pm on Friday afternoon via Webex:

 https://eduvic.webex.com/meet/ramsey.michael.j

At assembly student of the week awards are presented, as well as other awards and recognition of student achievements, sustainability news and other announcements. On the last day of term we will aim to have an outside assembly on the oval.

School Car Park

Please read a reminder about the safe use of the carpark at school. Between the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm the carpark is to be used ONLY by school staff. Please do not use the carpark during this time. There are many places to park your car along Whites Lane or in neighbouring streets.

An exception is the disabled parks which are used by a handful parents (who are known to the principal), that have disabled parking permits.

Outside these hours you can use the carpark, with the exception of the parks marked RESERVED (written in white paint on the ground) which are for school leadership only. Those staff need these parks to be free if they have to enter or exit the school at short notice, especially if there is an emergency.

It has also been noticed a number of parents and community members are walking through, or waiting to pick up their children in the carpark. Please do not walk or wait in the carpark for safety reasons. A member of staff will be at the car park this week reminding parents to use the car park safely if required.
