A Message from School Council

What does it look like for 2024?

At our AGM on 20th March 2024, we elected our new school council members and positions for 2024. We are pleased to report that Steve Moore has re-elected for another two years, and Betty Maniotas and Ben Ozel have joined us a new parent members-welcome Betty and Ben!

We will introduce each member over the coming newsletters so our community know who their parent representatives are, and you can engage with them and learn more about the school council and what we do.

I, Jo Pitt, have re-elected as the School Council President for a second year and Ellis Richardson, in his second year on the school council, has taken on the Vice-President role.

The way the school council works is that it is supported by three sub-committee’s-Environment, Community and Finance.

These subcommittees meet before each school council meeting and work on projects and provide guidance in the specific area and then make recommendations for the school council to approve or not.

Environments covers all things ground related like landscaping, working bees, and projects like the recent bike shed upgrade and PE shed mural. Community covers all our fundraising and events, and Finance is pretty self-explanatory and reviews the dollars! Anyone can be a member and attend the subcommittee meetings (you don’t have to be on the school council) and many hands make light work, so if you are keen to get involved but unsure if you can commit to every meeting then please reach out to the convenor of the related subcommittee and help out when you can! Leave a note with the school office and they will take your contact details and share it with the appropriate convenor: Environments- Betty Maniotas

Community- Ben Ozel

Finance- Steve Moore

NPS branded clothing items

We are pleased to inform you that we now have three new items available for purchase if desired! There is a short sleeved, collared polo shirt, a long sleeved, round neck t-shirt, and a long sleeved, ¾ zip windcheater. They are now on display at the school reception, and we are just waiting for the items to be uploaded to the supplier’s website for orders and receive some samples to try for sizing at the office if you are unable to make it to the shop in Ivanhoe to try on. We hope they will be available to order online imminently (with free delivery to school) or they can purchase in store @ Noone Imagewear-283 Lower Heidelberg Rd, Ivanhoe East now. Detailed online ordering instructions can be found in this newsletter.

• Work in progress

The school council and SLT are currently working together towards improving school and school related communications to our community.

The objective is to keep everyone informed but not overloaded, and make sure everyone knows where to go to find the information they need. It is a complex project due it’s many stakeholders with very different expectations and requirements, in a world that now has many channels of possible communication too!

However, we ask for your patience, and we will be asking for your feedback via a Google review (keep your eyes peeled for this) and we look forward to its benefits! In the meantime, please revisit our school website, take time to read the Newsletter and Compass posts as these are going to be our number one sources to find info (specifically the Parent Information drop down) and we are already improving and adding to this on a regular basis.
