Week 3 Updates
In a twist on traditional sculpting techniques, students in our visual arts program have been exploring the creative potential of an unexpected material: toilet paper. Over the past fortnight, classrooms have been buzzing with excitement as students experiment with this unconventional medium, using nothing more than toilet paper and water to craft 3D sculptures.
While initially challenging to manipulate, students quickly discovered the unique properties of toilet paper that make it an ideal sculpting material. Its pliable texture and ability to hold shape when wet have proven to be incredibly effective, allowing students to unleash their imaginations and bring their artistic visions to life in three-dimensional form. One particularly popular trend emerging from these art sessions is the creation of food sculptures.
We've had a great start to the Term, with all classes focussing on keyboards.
Preps have been super excited to go to the "secret room", with all the keyboards. They've learned how to turn them on/off, set up and pack up their headphones, and have had a chance to play around with all the settings and effects.
Students in Grades 1-6 have been working through general keyboard introductions - identifying all the keys, and practicing their knowledge through hands on games and activities.
A wonderful start to Term 2 in STEM! Prep - Grade 2 students have started to explore Earth and Space Sciences. Robots are fantastic learning tools and we have used a Sphero to consolidate our knowledge. When students shake the Sphero, it will ask them a random question about day and night. Check out some of the laughs and smiles in the photos below! Below is a link to Melbourne Museum's Skynotes - a great resource to see which planets are visible during the month.
Students in Grades 3 and 4 are finishing their designs from last term to show their understanding of magnetism. Grade 5s and 6s are using Digital Technologies to communicate their understanding of light to an audience. Watch this space to see their designs!

This week the Grade 2 students were lucky enough to enjoy some time with the mens' Western Bulldogs players.
Here are some photos of the amazing experience.
¡HOLA! We've had a great start to the Term, with all classes focussing on introducing themselves in Spanish and practising some greetings and farewells. We did this by playing some songs and language games.
Grade 5 and 6 students have been also exploring language and identity, discussing about the importance of language in expressing identity and interacting with others. Students have been sharing different experiences of interacting in a different language and what have been their surprises and challenges.
