Cyber Safety/STEM
At St Mary’s we are extremely lucky to be a 1:1 device school but here's a little reminder: with great gadgets comes great responsibility. Now we are back at school it might be a good idea to revisit the user agreement for Years 3-6 and Foundation to Year 2. Going over this with your child can help remind them how to care for their school device and use it responsibly. This might also help avoid a cost to families for any breakages.
Handle with Care: Treat your device like your BFF! That means no tossing, throwing, or dropping it. A gentle touch goes a long way in keeping your gadget happy and healthy.
Keep it Clean: No crumbs, no sticky fingers, and definitely no spilled juice near your device! A clean gadget is a happy gadget. Wipe your screen with a soft cloth and keep those ports clear of dust.
Stay Charged: Keep an eye on your battery life. Just like you need snacks to keep your energy up, your device needs juice to keep going. Charge it up regularly so it's ready when you are.
Transport with TLC: When you're on the move, make sure your device is secure. Carry it carefully with two hands and remember, never leave it lying around where it could get lost or damaged.
Stay Alert: Be mindful of your surroundings when using your device in public. Keep an eye on it, and don't share personal information or login details with others.
Ask for Help: If something seems off with your device – like it's acting slow or making weird noises – don't panic! Ask a teacher for help. They can give it a check-up and make sure everything's ok or they can speak to Rod our school IT technician.
Remember, your device is a tool for learning and it may need to be returned to someone else at the end of the year so remember to look after it!
Also congratulations and well done to many students who participated in eSmart activities last term. Currently, Year 6 students are working on their digital license. If you would like to know more or see some of the students in action click here as this is a great organistion and resource for all families.
