ANZAC Day

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations"

The acronym ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, whose soldiers were known as Anzacs. Anzac Day remains one of the most important national occasions of both Australia and New Zealand.

The first ANZAC DAY was 25 April 1915 when the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula.  Anzac Day is the day on which we as Australians remember the sacrifice of those who have died in war and their courage and mateship. This is called the Anzac tradition.

Ode To Remembrance

They shall grow not old,

as we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning

We will remember them.

Another tradition of ANZAC Day is the delicious ANZAC Biscuit. I wonder if you are making a batch at home with your families!  Enjoy this nation day of Remembrance, and if you happen to be watching the Collingwood Vs Essendon game... GO ESSENDON!

Sacrament of Holy Eucharist

Next week, our Eucharist candidates will be receiving a take home pack, which will include important information about the celebration, our family faith night and information about photography for the day.
