Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Today we commemorate our ANZAC service men and women. We honour their bravery and sacrifice. Today isn't about glorifying war, but remembering those who have served. Today we reflect on their sacrifice and pray for peace in our world. Lest we forget.

Thank you!

I extend my thanks and gratitude to our SMCM community for their generousity and fundraising efforts leading up to yesterday's Colour Run! We raised a phenomenal $39, 000! Once running costs for the set up of the day are deducted we look forward to utilising these funds to purchase and upgrade materials and resources that will benefit our students each day including new furniture, chrome books, new decodable reading materials and more!

Friday 26th April - Pupil Free day

The Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 introduced a formal time in lieu process for teachers. The Agreement provides that a principal may require a teacher to undertake work and attend a school activity outside the normal hours of attendance and when this occurs, it will attract time in lieu. Teachers at SMCM accrue time in lieu for events such as, but not limited to, Harmony Day Picnic, Christmas Carols, Camp, Parent Teacher Interviews, Sacramental Celebrations, Family Faith Nights and Parent Information Evenings. Tomorrow's pupil free day is acquittal for time in lieu accrued in Semester One of the school year. The Monday before Melbourne Cup will be acquittal for time in lieu accrued in Semester Two. As a school we have chosen to continue to run a number of events outside of school hours to accommodate working families and foster our great community rather than move events to during the school day and reduce time in lieu. I thank our teachers and school staff for their work in ensuring SMCM is a school and a community!

Congratulations to Alana (Learning Diversity Leader) and Anthony on the safe arrival of their baby boy Arlo Peppe! Mum and bub are both doing well!

Enjoy an extra long weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone in their Winter Uniform on Monday!
