Expression of Interest for Women in Construction Workshop
On Wednesday 15th of May, a construction workshop will be held for 30 female participants.
This workshop aims to develop knowledge and skills around using hand tools and provides insight into the construction industry for tradeswomen.
Students will receive safety induction, and all participants will wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Students create a timber project by measuring up, cutting and assembling. The tools and skills involved include measuring with tapes and set squares and cutting with various saws such as a hand, drop, and jigsaw. To assemble with drills, impact drivers, nails, screws, hammers, nail punches and different drill bits. Each tool is explained, and correct safe use is shown, supervised, and overseen according to the above trade standards.
This opportunity is open to Year 9-11 students.
The workshop will run for approximately 4.5 hrs, and we will be based in the Bruce Reid Sports Stadium.
