Last Tuesday we competed in the Cross Country at Deans Marsh. The students of Alvie Primary School really did our school proud. They used grit and determination as they strived to finish the race to the best of their ability. We are extremely proud of the efforts of all of our students, with a huge congratulations going to those they secured a position to represent our school at the next stage. The following students competed in the Colac Cross Country yesterday, in our next edition we should have the official results :)

Last fortnight, on Tuesday 23rd, students from grades 3-6 were given white crosses that had the names of young local Alvie men who enlisted for service in World War 1. The students placed the crosses next to the memorials at the entrance to our Avenue Of Honour.
On Wednesday all students and staff gathered at the memorial site to commemorate ANZAC Day. Students Chloe, Eleanor and Kayden read ‘In Flanders Fields’ and Milla read ‘The Ode’.
Following on from our morning service, lessons continued with the ANZAC Day theme through activity worksheets, reading of ANZAC Day related books and watching a short documentary explaining who the ANZAC soldiers were and their significance in World War 1.
Congratulations to our Principal's Student of the Week!
