Grade 4
Literacy
In class, our students are learning how to understand procedure texts by figuring out what they're for and what steps they need to follow. From making simple crafts to learning how to plant a seed, our students are getting hands-on practice in breaking down big tasks into smaller, easy-to-follow steps.

Time Well Spent:
Last week, our Grade 4’s finished their time unit. They've gone from reading analog and digital clocks to figuring out how much time has passed and how much time is in between two events! Make sure to keep your children engaged at home by asking them to read the time for you, and problem solve how much time is between you leaving the house and arriving at school!
Measuring Up:
This week, it's time for something new! Students have learned about the vocabulary and units of measurement for length. They have begun to explore millimetres and centimetres on a ruler, and how to correctly measure objects around the classroom.
Integrated
We are continuing our study of Geography this term. We are exploring the amazing diversity of biomes. Biomes are like nature's neighbourhoods, each with its own climate, plants, and animals. But what makes them really special is the vegetation – the plants that grow there. Whether it's towering trees in forests or cacti in deserts, plants are super important. They provide homes and food for animals, help keep the air clean, and even influence the weather. Right now, we're working in groups to research a specific biome. It's an adventure, learning about how plants and animals work together to make each biome unique!
Respectful Relationships
Learning how to treat others with kindness and respect is an invaluable skill that fosters positive relationships and community spirit. Last week, our class embarked on a heartfelt project where we focused on 'filling the buckets' of some key figures in our school—Mr. Abdallah, Mr. Clydesdale, Ms. Lindberg, Mr. Salim, and Ms. Patterson. This exercise involved each of us brainstorming and reflecting on the qualities and contributions that make these individuals special. We then presented them with personalized buckets filled with notes of appreciation and gratitude. This activity not only brightened their day but also reinforced the importance of recognizing and affirming the positive impact others have in our lives. It was a practical lesson in empathy and the power of thoughtful gestures, showing us that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
