Grade 2

There has been plenty happening over the last two weeks for our Year 2 students at Grayling Primary School…

Initialit:

It’s been great to see that our students have settled back into the fast moving school term, which has included their continued work in the Initialit program. We have been learning about prefixes, suffixes including ‘ing’ and ‘un’, looking at how they all come together to make new words.

Maths:

We have been continuing our learning about addition and subtraction strategies. Our students have been learning about fact families and how to use a number line and 100’s chart to count backwards.

Athletics Day:

This Thursday our students participated in the annual whole Grayling athletics day. It was fantastic to see so many Year 2 students giving the range of events their best effort, exercising and most importantly, having fun!

Movie Day

As part of their recount writing practice, the students enjoyed a cinema experience in their classroom. The various ‘cinemas’ included The Emperor’s New Groove, Robin Robin, Minions and The Secret Life of Pets. There were plenty of treats including popcorn and chips for the students to enjoy while they sat back and relaxed. For the remainder of the week, the students then worked on how to retell their experience, including making sure that they sequence their retell in the correct order.

Mother’s Day Stall & Visit

The students also had the chance to visit the Mother’s Day Stall this Wednesday, as well as spend some time with their mums and family members in the classroom on Friday. We hope all our wonderful mums, grandmothers, and any other important women in our students lives have a wonderful and relaxing day!
