Prefect's Update

Dear Kinross Wolaroi Families,

The year is well and truly underway, and what a great start it has been.

The Championship Swimming Carnival was held last Friday and numerous records were broken as students dived into the water and embraced the spirit of competition and camaraderie. Thank you to our Year 11 and 12 student volunteers who helped officiate the event.

Meanwhile, the excitement continues to build as auditions for our 2025 musical production, Aladdin, are in full swing. It was great to see the energy and talent of our students with over 100 auditionees. We can’t wait to see the final cast take shape.

On Friday evening we held the first Gatho of the year, our informal assembly run by prefects that aims to foster school spirit, celebrate the achievements of our students, and provide announcements especially regarding co-curricular successes. It was wonderful to hear the Chika Laka chant once again and take the opportunity to teach the Year 7 the tradition.

We also awarded our first Kinrossian of 2025, a student chosen by the school prefects who inspires their peers through their actions and exemplifies the spirit and values of KWS: Courage, Respect, Inclusiveness, Resilience, and Commitment. Congratulations to Abby Ker, our Kinrossian of the Fortnight! During the Summer Holidays Abby embarked on the Round Square Service Project in Vietnam and dedicated 14 days serving in remote communities with other students from Round Square Schools all over the world. She pushed herself outside her comfort zone and demonstrated compassion, leadership, and a commitment to making a difference.

Looking ahead, next week brings an important opportunity for reflection and personal growth with Wellbeing Day. The day is designed for students to build essential life skills, strengthen bonds within their year groups, and take a moment to reflect on their goals for the year—assessing their progress, celebrating their achievements, and making adjustments where needed. We encourage everyone to embrace the day with an open mind and positive spirit, and look forward to the exciting week ahead.

Kind Regards,

Grace and Nick
