Gold Awardee

A special commendation goes to Kajan Kandeepan, who has successfully completed his Gold Award. This remarkable achievement reflects his dedication and perseverance throughout the program. Having completed all three levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold—Kajan consistently challenged himself while contributing his time and skills to the community. His commitment to the program will undoubtedly serve him well in his HSC year.

Kajan’s Reflection:

"The Duke of Edinburgh program is an incredible opportunity for personal growth, pushing you beyond your comfort zone while fostering resilience, leadership, and adaptability. From Bronze to Gold, I faced various challenges—from navigating difficult terrain on overnight hikes to balancing school, volunteering, and skill development. Each level built upon the last, promoting greater independence and commitment. The program provided invaluable experiences, whether through teamwork in physically demanding conditions, problem-solving in unexpected situations, or developing a deeper appreciation for service. Ultimately, the Duke of Edinburgh Award has been a transformative journey that has prepared me for future challenges. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to challenge themselves and grow in ways they never imagined."

A big thank you to Mr Nathan Zinga who has coordinated the program over the past two years and guided these successful participants.

Round Square IDEAL: Environmentalism

2025 ...so far

This year the Environmentalism Group has begun planning on many upcoming initiatives.

Our Clothes Swap, located in the Anderson Centre foyer, has been revamped and revitalised. Students and staff can bring in old and unwanted clothing and replace with something fresh!

Set up by our outgoing leadership team, there is an awesome set of recycling bins located next to the printers all around the school to increase paper recycling, which are widely used by teachers around the school.

Located in the Anderson Foyer we have set up a collection of seedlings/plants that we are nurturing and hope to see thriving by the end of the term.

Going forward, we hope to establish a way for the school to participate in the Return and Earn project, recycling the school's cans and bottles.

The Round Square Environmentalism team meets every Monday in Room 81/Anderson Foyer. If you have any ideas or just want to come along, we’d love to see you there!

Thanks,

The Environmentalism Leaders
