From the Head of Junior School

Mrs Virginia Milliken, Executive Director, Head of Junior School

A Great Start to 2025!

The Junior School is off to a great start with students transitioning smoothly into the school routine. Their enthusiasm and adaptability have been commendable, and it’s wonderful to see them engaging actively in their learning. The following images capture the excitement and enthusiasm from the students.

Last week we welcomed parents to our start of year parent-teacher information night. Parent-teacher information nights are an opportunity to foster communication between parents and teachers and provide a platform for teachers to share insights about the curriculum, classroom expectations, routines and how parents and teachers can work together to support student progress. Additionally, these evenings strengthen the school community by encouraging relationships and open dialogue among parents, teachers, and school staff.

Junior School Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to all students for their outstanding participation, remarkable behaviour, and active involvement at the Junior School Swimming Carnival held last Friday at the Kinross Wolaroi Swimming Centre. The day was packed with races for students from Year 2 to Year 6, with many students racing for the very first time. It was heartening to witness such a strong display of House spirit and excitement, especially during the House chants. A special thank you is extended to the staff, students, and parents who assisted in organising and ensuring the event’s success.

Junior Swimming Program

Kinross Wolaroi is proud of the swimming program that we offer our Junior School students beginning in Kindergarten. Learning to swim is a vital life skill that enhances safety and confidence in the water. It provides numerous health benefits, including improved cardiovascular fitness and muscle strength, while also being a fun and enjoyable activity for all ages. Outlined below is the progression of onsite swimming that is incorporated into the School day.

  • Pathways | Refining learned techniques, applying feedback and introduction of basic Speed and Endurance sessions. Intensity matches the continued technique focus.

  • Junior Challenge | Making a connection with training and racing. Linking learned technique with the racing arena.

We look forward to seeing our students continue to thrive and enjoy the benefits of our comprehensive swimming program throughout their time at Kinross Wolaroi.
