Principals Message

Dear families,
Today is my first day back having had the past four weeks of leave following the birth of our son, Sullivan Vance Ryan. All went smoothly and I thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of spending time getting to know the little guy and getting into (being reminded of) the routines of having a newborn in the house once again. Both my wife, Renee, and Sullivan are going well, and our 3-year-old daughter, Charlise, has really taken to being a big sister.
In my absence, I cannot thank the staff enough for their dedication, care and support of our beautiful little school. I know that each and every staff member jumped in, taking on additional responsibilities or showing support. I especially thank Katherine and Angela for their leadership as acting principal while I was away. I know that they had some really curly situations (including a snake on-site) but that they, and the whole staff, problem-solved beautifully to ensure the safety, learning and wellbeing of each student continued to thrive.
We are so fortunate to have such a terrific staff, student and family community.
NAPLAN
Tomorrow, our Year 3 and 5 students commence the first of the NAPLAN testing for 2025 with Writing. The following tests are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Monday with additional time allocated for catch up sessions over the next two weeks for any students absent.
I ask that families ensure that Year 3 and 5 students are at school before 8:50am over the next week so that testing can commence first thing each morning. NAPLAN can be an anxiety-provoking time for the students and, as much as we endeavour to reassure them, it is important that families do the same. We tell students that we are happy if they try their best and check over their work.
Attendance Matters
Attendance matters! When children attend school regularly, they have the best opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Being at school each day helps them build knowledge, develop friendships, and stay engaged in their learning.
Missing school can make it harder to keep up, leading to gaps in learning and missed social opportunities. Consistent attendance sets children up for success, not just in school but in the future as well. Everyday counts! 😊📚
As always, I look forward to chatting with you all and please do not hesitate to come see me or reach out if you have any questions or queries.
