Business Breakfast

The inaugural joint Mazenod Old Collegians Association (MOCA) and Mazenod Foundation Business Breakfast on 5th March was a great success. Nearly 90 guests gathered at San Lorenzo Restaurant in Scoresby to hear an engaging conversation between Paul Guerra, CEO of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mazenod’s very own Tom Steinfort (MOC2002). We were also joined by the Member of Parliament for Chisholm, Dr Carina Garland MP, and the Liberal candidate for Chisholm, Dr Katie Allen.

A wide range of topics were covered, from the challenges facing the Victorian economy and the state of its politics to the timing of the Federal election, as well as international issues such as Donald Trump, Ukraine, and the international order. It was a highly informative, topical, and incisive discussion, followed by many questions from guests. MOCA and the Mazenod Foundation were very grateful for the support of Paul and Tom, who ensured the success of this event.

This event is part of a suite of activities, including additional business networking opportunities, social functions, and reunions, that will be offered to our Mazenod community this year. We gratefully acknowledge our sponsors and supporters for their contributions, in particular, Harcourts Judd White and Mercedes-Benz Waverley.

College Open Day

During our recent Open Day on Wednesday, 5th March, it was delightful to catch up with some of our Old Boys and their families, as well as, with former Staff Members.

Amongst these people were Greg Raines (Class of 1993); Michael De Silva (Class of 2002); Craig Don Paul (Class of 2002); Isaac Pinar (Class of 2006) and Ari Pinar (Class of 2008); Ryan Bayros (Class of 2005); Daniel McGuire (Class of 2005), and former Staff Member, Brett Barber (Finished at Mazenod at the end of 1991). These conversations always involve reminiscing and sharing wonderful memories from the past, and excitement about the present.

Mazenod Football Club Whole Club Training – Bringing the Panthers and Old Collegians Together!

The Mazenod Football Club is excited to host a special Whole Club Training Night on Wednesday, 12 March, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Mazenod College (5 Kernot Ave, Mulgrave). This unique event will bring together our Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s, Under 19s, and Panthers All Abilities teams for an evening of inclusion, unity, skill-building, and fun.

This is more than just a training session—it’s an opportunity to celebrate the inclusive and connected culture that makes our club so special. Players from all squads will share the field, learning from each other and embracing the spirit of teamwork.

Senior Men’s coach Peter Banfield expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “It’s a fantastic opportunity for all teams to come together and share our passion for football. The energy and camaraderie at these sessions are incredible, and it’s a great reminder of what Mazenod Football Club is all about.”

Senior All Abilities coach Matt Backhouse highlighted the significance of this event for the Panthers: “Our All Abilities team thrives on support and inclusion, and training alongside the Senior Men, Women, and Under 19s is a special experience. These nights build confidence, skills, and friendships that go well beyond the field.”

Following the session, everyone is invited to stick around for a BBQ, a chance to unwind, share stories, and celebrate what makes Mazenod Football Club a great club.

All players, members, and supporters are welcome. If you're keen to participate, simply bring comfortable clothing and runners—no experience is necessary, just a great attitude and a willingness to get involved!
