MOCA Business Breakfast

We were delighted to welcome ninety guests to the 2025 MOCA Business Breakfast last Wednesday morning. It was wonderful to see so many alumni, parents and friends of the College and I thank you all for your support.

I particularly want to express my appreciation to our guest speakers, Mr Paul Guerra, CEO of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mazenod’s very own Tom Steinfort (MOC2002), who has had a long and distinguished career as a journalist and television presenter. The discussion and insights into business and the political landscape in 2025 were very insightful.

Thank you to Executive members of the Mazenod Old Collegians Association, President Sean Sullivan and all sponsors for their generous support of this and other College events and activities. We also extended a very special welcome to the Federal Member for Chisholm, Dr Carina Garland and Dr Katie Allen the Liberal candidate for Chisholm and wished them well for the pending federal election.

We also extend our thanks to our generous hosts at San Lorenzo Restaurant, Scoresby, who are connected through Mazenod Old Collegians—Frank Ciorciari (MOC1998), Sab Randazzo (MOC1988), Peter Chiaravalle (MOC1984), and Elvis Chiaravalle (MOC1991)—for allowing us to hold the event in their beautiful space.

College Open Day

The College Open Day was held on Wednesday and is a crucial event for prospective students and their families, offering an opportunity to explore the school's culture, facilities, and educational programs. It provides valuable insight into the College's values, building community connections, and showcasing the school's commitment to excellence. Thanks to all visitors to the College and staff for their leadership of this important event.

2025 DMFEN Student Leaders Conference

The 2025 De Mazenod Family Education Network Conference was hosted by St Eugene’s College Qld. The elected student leaders at our member Colleges, St Eugene’s College Qld, Mazenod College WA, Iona College Qld and Mazenod College Vic were accompanied by Rectors, Principals and leading teachers to this annual event.

Students explored the common values that are shared because of the ministry of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. These values are aptly illustrated in our Signpost documentation highlighting the mission and commitment of St Eugene and the Oblates to: Community, Service, Spirituality, Dignity, and Learning. Thank you to all the staff who attended and supported the workshops and presentations. Most of all thank you to the students who immersed themselves in the experience and took every opportunity to learn, plan and connect.

Inaugural Mass

On Friday 21st February the College Community gathered at St Patrick’s Cathedral for our Inaugural Mass, to celebrate the start of the academic year. Our tradition of inducting the College leaders on this auspicious occasion continued and students were introduced to the congregation. Thank you to all involved in the enormous amount of planning and organisation.

Thanks to the Oblate Faith and Charism Team who co-ordinated a moving celebration of the Eucharist. I would like to acknowledge the leadership of the Oblate Priests who in the spirit of St Eugene de Mazenod have led this community with distinction for such a long period of time. I would particularly like to thank and acknowledge the altar servers, the readers, the liturgy choir, the brass ensemble, and the Mazenod College Music Staff. Thank you to His Grace, Archbishop Peter Comensoli for his support of the Mazenod College community and all the staff at the Cathedral.

ACC Athletics Carnival

Thank you to the Mazenod Sports Department and all staff who had been preparing for the ACC Athletics Carnival last Thursday. We had some excellent individual results and finished 2nd overall. We would like to congratulate De La Salle who were the Division 2 Champions. On the day the team achieved a number of first places, seconds and thirds. We would also like to acknowledge the Athletics Captains and Year 12 students, for their years of dedication to the sport and the team.

All the best,
