School Fete

It’s only 2 weeks until our fete - the time is going faster as we get closer. Here is an update on the fete.
We have (just a snapshot) lots happening at the fete, including:
We have 7 new and different amusements
We’re bringing our pizza oven out of retirement
We’re most definitely going to be soaking some teachers and maybe some special guests
We have lots of grade stalls on offer, including the ever popular chocolate toss
We hear that Highway Patrol might be stopping by…
Our stage is crammed full of entertainment
There is fairy floss - enough said
We’re getting rid of Zooper Doopers and replacing them with ice cream
Bunnings, Altona Life Saving Club and AusKick are stopping by
And much much more!
Volunteering:
Thank you to every parent who has already signed up - it’s much appreciated. However, we still need more - we need to fill the big gaps which are where all the food is. Our grades also need support - for grades 3-6 your child can volunteer. We need parent support to ensure we have a fun day so we can make the most profit for the items we need to purchase to support the school to keep delivering excellent education to our children.
We have made the decision that volunteers don’t need to have a working with children’s check so you’re able to volunteer if you wish to.
Click on this link (and don’t think for one minute that traffic management isn’t a job for you - it’s integral to the day) and sign up today. If you do volunteer, make sure you sign up for one of the briefing sessions too - everyone who is volunteering must attend a session (scroll to the bottom of this link) so you know what’s happening on the day.
Hot tip - volunteer and you get a free sausage or burger and a drink for helping!
Chocolate Drive:
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the chocolate drive - we can’t believe that we got over 1,000 chocolate bars! That’s a lot of chocolate for the Choc Toss stall, unless the Chocolate Thief starts stealing from our stash!
Bake Sale:
By now your eldest child at school should have brought home a plate for the bake sale at the fete. If they haven’t, there are some spare ones available. Remember you don’t have to bake a whole cake and you don’t have to make something sweet. You may wish to use your copy of the school cookbook for inspiration! You need to bring your bake to the canteen from 8am on Friday 28th March.
Wristbands and showbags:
Letters and information about how to pre-order have been sent home with your eldest child this week. Please ensure that you complete and return the form by 9am on Monday 24th March as we will not be able to process any orders after this date.
Token only event:
Talking of pre-event purchases, we’re delighted to announce that w/c 24th March we will be selling tokens morning during drop off and during pick up ALL WEEK. This means you don't have to queue on the day and head straight to all the fun! You can pay by cheque and cash here.
These tokens are for the fete as this is a cashless/card event on all our stalls (except the Community Market where businesses shall be). You will be able to pay by card and cash at 3 ticket stalls at the fete and make gold coin donations there too.
Donations:
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far - we genuinely can’t thank you enough.
If you’re still wanting to make a donation, we still need the following:
Tomato and mustard sauces (please check it has a 6 month shelf life and is unopened).
Canned soft drinks (Coke/ Coke Zero/ Fanta/ lemonade/Solo - please check it has a 6 month shelf life and is unopened. We ask for NO juice packs).
Brown Kraft paper in rolls.
Paper table cloth,Hanging decorations (lanterns, crepe streamers, hanging stars, party decor etc etc)
Baking paper
Paper towels
Plastic (and clean) ice cream tubs for us to use as token boxes
Gazebos (please confirm by making a note on your order form if you can loan us one for the day - these are much needed to protect our stalls from the weather.
