Rowing Success for the College

sVc has taken out the Aggregate Cup and Junior Shield at the 2025 Tasmanian All Schools Rowing Championships!
What a historic sporting day for the College. This marks the first time the College has won the cup since its inception in 1964 and St Virgil’s return to senior school sport.
sVc secured the Cup by one single point over The Hutchins School.
The competition for the Cup came down to the final race of the day. One solitary point behind, sVc needed to finish ahead of The Hutchins School in the Year 10 Quad Scull to secure the historic victory.
Thanks to an inspirational speech from Year 10 coach, and ex-Australian rower, Ms Wrigley, the boys put in a gritty performance to narrowly finished ahead of a fast-finishing Hutchins crew.
Dominating the junior events, sVc walked away with an arm full of trophies, winning 7 of the 9 possible junior races, and finishing a close second in the remaining 2 events.
Making history too was our Open 1st VIII, which participated with Years 11 and 12 students in the Open Boys VIII for the first time in 30 years. Finishing in 3rd, only half a second behind Grammar in second and 5 seconds behind Hutchins in first - all eyes will be on sVc at the Head of the River in three weeks.
Congratulations to all involved.
